Antioch's undergraduate teacher preparation program provides opportunities for those with experience in school settings, or in work with children to obtain a bachelor's degree and qualify for elementary teacher certification. The program incorporates the values and competencies of Antioch's B.A. in Liberal Studies (a bachelor completion program) and teacher preparation.

Antioch's program is offered full time to a cohort of 20 to 25 students. It integrates courses in teaching methods, classroom management strategies and all content areas needed for your elementary teaching certification.

Student Teaching

You complete a student teaching internship during the last quarter of the program. Passing scores on the appropriate Praxis II exam are required prior to student teaching. Although Antioch cannot promise to accommodate your school of preference, the field placement coordinator will make every attempt to do so. Student teaching generally takes 10 to 12 weeks to complete. At the end of the quarter, students present information about their student teaching experience to peers and faculty.
