Do I need to decide when I apply what certification I would like to receive?

You need to indicate your preference. It's understandable that circumstances might change.

I already have a master's degree. Do you have a non-master's option?
Yes. You can complete the requirements for certification only. The number of credits required is 64 for the Elementary (K-8) and 52 for Secondary (5-12) Math or Science certification preparation. Contact the Admissions Adviser for information.

Can I work full time while in this program?
This depends on individual circumstances. Education classes are held during the evenings on weekdays to accommodate work schedules. Students must also complete several weeks of field experiences, however, that do require daytime commitments. Flexibility in your employment schedule makes this easier to manage.

Students are strongly discouraged from working during the student teaching internship at the end of their program.

Does Antioch have an online program?
Not at this time. Antioch does use online learning management systems to enhance its programs and offers a number of hybrid courses. The School of Education also maintains a number of off-site campuses. Please Request Information about where you might be able to attend.

Do I need to take the WEST-B before I can apply?
Yes, you need to take and pass the test before you can apply.

What do I need to graduate?
You will need to complete all course requirements, successfully complete your field experience and receive a passing score on the Washington Educators Skills Test - Endorsements (West-E). Following the completion of the West-E, you will begin and complete your student teaching. Read more about student teaching.
